OMG .. November 13, 2006

Posted by stagedive in Idle Thoughts, Kids.

p1430ex2.jpgI had carried out the occasional search on eBay for my fave childhood toy, The Evel Knievel Stunt Bike, and promised myself one as a gift when I saw one at a good price, the lowest I found was £55! .. As far as childhood memories go, this was the real deal, I had two starter motor things for some reason and had so much fun sending the bike over ramps to my Dad and him returning it along side the ramp .. the ramp was for me, not my Dad you see .. Evel lost an arm but still carried on jumping, oh so courageous ..

Anyway, Dad might not be around to share it with, but those kitch kindly folks at Hasbro (probably) have relaunched it for this Xmas.. I can’t believe there is anyone under 30 that cares, but it’s on my xmas list .. woo hoo ..

Right kids, honest it is more fun than You Tube and Bebo .. I’ll get my coat ..

That’s pretty f**king exciting news man!

I have been a little bit too tempted to buy one today, but am resisting being too impulsive 🙂

Is it wrong to tell my sister the kids want one for Xmas? Moral dilema!

Ah, but do you recall the awful friction burns on got on your fingers / thumb when winding up said toy ? The handle was positioned in just such a way as to ensure you got carpet burns trying to build up sufficient speed for the ultimate stunt….jumping over the cat / pile of books / sleeping father (delete as appropriate).

That said it ranked up there with my eagle-eyes, gripping hands action man so I might have to invest in this piece of classic 70’s toy memorabilia.

I’m with you Wast, but 70’s Vinyl Floor – no problems w/ carpet burns round my way.

So if me, you & J (sorry Ektopia, he gets mad when I blow his cover) are all in, we could start a stunt team and carry out display evenings at local Scout Huts and Stamp Collecting emporiums .. perhaps ..

Eagle eyes .. Mmmm .. and the bionic eye that ripped of the Six Million Dollar Man, I’m sure I could see for miles with that thing ..

Spooky, following on from the Evel Knievel stunt bike I also googled the Bionic Man as I had one of those in the 70’s too and Maskatron, although I never stooped as low as getting Oscar Goldman to complete the set !

There must be a fortune to be made with these nostalgia toys, if only I’d made more of an effort with my offerings on Swap Shop I could have been a millionaire by now.
